The EQAO has been paused for students in grades 3, 6, and 9 for the past two school years. Since that time, students in Ontario have been facing the full brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, there is a real issue of students overall who are trying to catch up on their learning. Restarting the EQAO test will largely be an exercise in futility – confirming what educators already know: students need more supports, public education requires more funding and staff in order to address the learning needs of Ontario students.
